NEW YORK, NY - June 24, 2022 — Skylum has announced the launch of Valid Ukraine (or Valid UA) foundation. The humanitarian foundation will help Ukrainians who have suffered from the war by providing them with medical equipment.
“Skylum is a company founded and developed in Kyiv, and we go on doing our best for customers all over the world. We can’t stay indifferent, and we feel responsible for peace in Ukraine. The support from Luminar creatives and Skylum partners during the first days of full-scale war inspired us to create this charitable foundation,” says Ivan Kutanin. Ivan took a leading role in forming the foundation.
Every Ukrainian is valid: what does Valid UA
Since February 24, 2022, the life of every Ukrainian has changed dramatically. Russia’s war in Ukraine continues, and more and more people need help daily.
Valid UA is built on the genuine belief that every person is valid and has the right to proudly live in the best way they can — just like the beautiful and culturally rich country of Ukraine.
The Valid UA foundation will focus on providing help to people injured in the war. Valid UA is currently purchasing medical equipment, wheelchairs, and cars for people with reduced mobility. The aim is to cover more equipment such as prosthetics and to provide the necessary equipment for people with disabilities, spinal injuries, amputated limbs, etc.
These needs are met with donations from Skylum partners, creatives, and other organizations. For more ambitious goals, the foundation cooperates with other local foundations such as the City Swell team from Kyiv, Ukraine. Joining forces with partner foundations will facilitate and speed up the purchase and transportation of equipment.
Valid UA is an independent, privately held foundation operating outside Skylum with a team of young creatives eager to help millions of Ukrainians. In the future, the foundation may cooperate with other non-governmental, humanitarian, or voluntary organizations to better serve the needs of Ukrainians.
First results of the foundation’s work
At the beginning of the war, Skylum announced its drone project to help the Ukrainian Army monitor the situation on the ground in real-time. We saw an overwhelming response from our community, and 112 drones gathered and shipped grew into an inevitable desire to help more.
As of now, the total donated by Skylum to support Ukraine amounts to $197,624. The company has donated this sum between the start of the war on February 24, 2022, and June 14, 2022. By selling special LUTs, bundles, Templates, and other creative assets, we have raised enough to distribute funds among various organizations.
The Valid UA foundation has used the funds mentioned above to help Ukrainian organizations and medical centers and to support the defense of Ukraine.
- $50,000 was donated directly to the National Bank of Ukraine’s special account for defense
- $63,816 was donated to Med Exim LLC, a supplier of expert medical equipment, and spent on equipment to provide vital support for injured people, including those who have suffered amputations and spinal injuries
- $22,339 was used for strengthening Ukraine’s defense, including by supporting demining campaigns; purchasing connectivity devices, tablets, and computers for the defense forces; assisting in a drone delivery campaign; and covering Valid UA operating expenses
